Bandwidth
A general term used to describe the data carrying capacity of a network connection. Bandwidth was traditionally measured in Hertz, and more recently is measured in the amount of data that can be transmitted per second. I.E. Kbps - Kilo bits per second.
Binary
Binary is a method of representing any value through a series of 1’s and 0’s. Binary was developed through the need for computers to represent numbers based on a switch being either on or off, which could be presented as a 1 or 0. Each switch is called a bit, with an 8 bit processor meaning that the processor represents data sets of 8 bits at a time.
Beta Software
Beta software generally refers to software still considered to be in the testing phase and that bugs may be encountered while using the software. Beta is usually seen as the last stage of testing before a software product is launched.
Browser
A software interface that allows users to view and interact with websites on the Internet. These generally include Microsoft Internet Explorer, Opera and Safari.
